The incumbent will have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule. The incumbent will be required to report onsite at least once/month but may be required to work onsite more depending on business needs. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.

This position will provide policy analysis and management in support of the Livability Office. The Livability initiative is responsible for developing materials, policies, and program actions to implement or integrate Livability Framework recommendations and actions into Metro District projects and transportation planning studies. This position will lead and assist in the research, writing, and production of the Livability Action Plan; prepare and present information on transportation and livability topics; research and analyze the non-transportation asset issues such as housing, economic development, public health, connectivity, etc., in support of the Livability Framework; develop, execute, and analyze surveys on the education materials developed for internal and external clientele; and prepare draft responses and documentation such as Context Guides, Corridor Plans, and Livability one pagers.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet one of the following:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology or Political Science.

OR

One year of professional (MAPE 05L or higher) planning experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Knowledge of planning practices and procedures associated with transportation investment programming and project delivery sufficient to analyze existing legislation/regulations and to develop recommended courses of action.

  • Experience in public engagement.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in policy, planning, environmental studies, urban studies, or related degrees.

  • Knowledge and application of principles and practices of transportation planning and related laws, rules, and requirements.

  • Experience gathering and interpreting data sufficient to make recommendations and modify procedures.

  • Working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

  • Project management experience.

  • Experience leading transportation planning studies and/or transportation related processes.

  • Experience leading or assisting in the direction of the work of colleagues, consultants and/or other professional staff.
