Indian Health Service Nursing Assistant (Out-patient) in Rosebud, South Dakota
Summary The position is located at the Rosebud Service Unit, Rosebud, South Dakota in a 35 bed unit with the following services: general medical and surgical, obstetrics, pediatrics, operating room, central supply and outpatient nursing. This position is an open until filled. The first Cut-off date for receipt/referral of applications to be considered for available vacant positions will be 10 days after the JOA open date. Responsibilities Observes, reports, and records signs and symptoms of patient's physical condition and/or unusual changes. Prepares patients for meals; assists with tray service, nourishment, and feedings and/or assists handicapped patients and observes and records amount and type of food taken. Gives basic nursing care to pediatric patients; feeds infants and young children; assists physician with treatments. Assists with physician and/or nurse in the examination and care of patients. Has the responsibility of exercising all duties performed in accordance with education, training, and experience received in meeting established and acceptable standards of nursing practices and procedures. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Nursing Assistant Series 0621 (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one six (6) months of specialized experience AND six (6) months of general experience equivalent to at least the GS-3 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-04: Performing nonprofessional nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home or other medical, nursing, or patient care facility or in such work as that of a home health-aide OR Two (2) years above high school with courses related to the occupation, if required Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Additional Information Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
