Job Description Ford Ion Park is seeking highly motivated candidates for positions on a Battery Cell Process Development Team. In this manufacturing engineering role, selected candidates will work actively in a laboratory setting on a diverse, cross functional team to identify manufacturing technology solutions and develop advanced processes and equipment for the production of battery cells that meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction in the New Energy Vehicles of tomorrow. Responsibilities Role Responsibilities:
Engage in cross-functional teams comprised of manufacturing engineering, product design, facilities, etc. to represent Cell Assembly to support feasible solutions
Research advanced technologies and suppliers to identify opportunities to develop capabilities for the Battery Cell “Factory of Tomorrow”
Lead manufacturing technology development and innovation projects including problem statements, expected outcomes, required resources and project execution plans to advance the limits of state-of-the-art in terms of process throughput, efficiency, yield, etc.
Engage directly with the setup and operation of laboratory and pilot processing equipment in the execution of technology development projects
Engage with Purchasing to enable the procurement of new and retooled equipment with technical statements of work and the evaluation of proposals in support of advanced manufacturing development projects
Lead simultaneous engineering and equipment delivery activities with equipment OEMs to ensure the design of manufacturing equipment and processes satisfy project objectives
Develop appropriate documentation to support the protection of intellectual property and Joint Development Agreements
Develop and maintain a standard manufacturing Bill-of-Process to enable the replication of state-of-the-art battery cell manufacturing processes on future global manufacturing programs
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
B.S. Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent (Physics, material science, etc.)
2 years’ experience working with manufacturing equipment in an engineering role
Preferred Requirements:
Masters’ Degree, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management or equivalent
5 years’ experience working with manufacturing equipment in an engineering role
Demonstrated experience in developing advanced manufacturing process innovation projects
Experience with machine design and manufacturing process optimization
Project management experience balancing multiple priorities simultaneously
Strong analytical thinking, as well as problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic working environment of a diverse team in an evolving industry
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Experience in the following areas is beneficial: High-Speed Automated Assembly Processes
