BUNZL Director of Sourcing in Romeoville, Illinois
The Director of Sourcing will provide accountability and ownership of the day to day management of the Sourcing and Procurement team for a Market.
Provide leadership and oversight of the Purchasing team
Demonstrate remote leadership competency and motivate and engage employees via in person, telephone, and technology methods. Maintain consistent presence throughout market.
Provide responsiveness as if all employees were in the same location
Provide superior training and development and hire top talent to improve the organization
Drive inventory turns and 120 Day inventory
Take ownership for vendor relationships creating value and ensuring strong performance to established expectations
Work closely with internal team (Sales, Customer Service, Warehousing, and Accounting) to maximize working capitol and customer satisfaction.
Communicate and coordinate with Region, Division, and Corporate Sourcing teams to ensure the alignment of strategies and priorities.
Lead total cost management reduction with emphasis on driving Imports and Private Label.
Negotiate vendor costing and terms as well as promotional programs.
Partner with Market leadership team to lead the business to achieve sales, profitability and working capital goals. Partner with the team to implement solutions-based strategies and consistency throughout the market.
Focus on consistency for the procurement function throughout the market.
High School Diploma required
Bachelor's Degree in Procurement or related field or equivalent experience required
5+ years of prior Procurement experience required
5+ years experience managing a team of people, with progressive levels of responsibility.
Must have excellent negotiating skills and the ability to represent the company to a broad range of suppliers, achieving lowest cost while maintaining a high degree of supplier loyalty
Must be process driven -continuously searching for ways to improve quality, accuracy, speed of response and departmental efficiency
Knowledge of the distribution environment, inventory management systems, and supplier selection and qualification
Product knowledge across multiple industries a definite plus
Microsoft Excel and Word competency required
Excellent process improvement abilities
Outstanding problem solving skills
Experience in a sales-driven distribution environment
Strong business and financial acumen
Excellent people skills and the ability to translate customer requirements into results.
High energy level, with the ability and desire to be part of a proactive, solution-oriented, customer-focused purchasing leadership team.Ability to interact with all departmental and divisional groups
Formal management training and staff development
Requires travel throughout the market. Expected to be in each market location once monthly
