Ford Motor Company Maintenance General Skilled - Michigan Proving Grounds - Romeo MI in Romeo, Michigan

General Skilled Maintenance are paid a top hourly base rate of $41.920, plus applicable shift, overtime, and holiday premiums. The starting rate for this position is $41.720 with pay increases to the top rate upon completion of three consecutive months of employment.

  • 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment on above and below ground construction projects – Must be able to provide written proof submitted with a resume to be considered for this position.

  • 5+ years of proof must be a letter on company letter head and describing the position held also signed by Company President/CEO or HR Manager

  • Experience operating heavy construction equipment such as Road Graders, Excavators, Bulldozers and Wheel Loaders also understanding operation of and directing construction material delivery vehicles and equipment.

  • Must be able to prove skill in operating heavy equipment via a hands-on demonstration skills test developed by the MPG Grounds Maintenance Team.

  • Familiarity with concrete work is desirable

  • Ability to operate the below listed heavy equipment:

  • Wheel Loaders

  • Excavator

  • Backhoes

  • Graders

  • Dozer

  • Roller

  • Mowers – Tractor and Zero Turn

  • Snow Removal Equipment – Plow Trucks, Tractor Brooms, and Snow Blowers

  • Provide support to successful completion of construction, engineering work (using survey tools), driving water truck, tree removal, vegetation control (spring, summer, fall), snow removal and surface salting (fall, winter, spring)

  • Operate all heavy equipment: road graders, bulldozers, front-end loaders, backhoes, and other related equipment.

  • Operate all equipment in a safe manner to prevent accidents and damage of property.

  • Perform periodical safety, maintenance, or servicing checks to ensure proper functioning of the equipment.

  • Perform minor repair works during functioning problems

  • Inform and advisemanagement or mechanic for major repairs or maintenance

  • Perform roadwork, excavation work, lifting work, etc.

  • Respond to signals and directions by the staff and work in coordination with them

  • Maintain proper coordination and cooperation with the road and transport system while driving/working, so that the normal activities are not disrupted. Operate the equipment manually using electronic or technical methods of operation.

  • Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, and work site or traffic laws.

  • Perform other duties associated with the MPG Grounds Maintenance Unit, as and when assigned

  • Willingness and ability to work on any assigned schedule, change shifts, work more than 8 hours per day and/or work overtime, all while maintaining good attendance. Ability and willingness to learn and follow safety rules and procedures, to work in a team environment, treat co-workers with dignity and respect regardless of personal differences, and accept and follow instructions and requests from leadership. Ability and willingness to understand and follow instructions, both oral or in writing.

  • Ability to perform tasks of the trade, stand for extended periods, walk unassisted, work at heights, work overhead including on ladders and platforms and manipulate tools typical of the trade while withstanding inclement work environments. Tasks will require a certain amount of reaching, lifting, twisting, bending, and use of a PMHV or hilo. Ability to perceive differences in details and prints related to trade. Must be able to effectively maneuver about vehicles, equipment, assembly lines or stations, and about facility.

  • Possess physical strength to operate heavy and power-driven equipment, a keen eye to details and good decision-making skills, ability to handle emergency situations, work pressure and stress. Ability to complete work projects on time and in an effective manner, possess a deep analytical understanding and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
