Job Purpose/Overview Implement and maintain the hygiene program (including sanitation, pest control and all HACCP pre-requisite programs) to ensure a high level of cleanliness according to ISO 9001, 22000, FSMA and MARS Quality andFood Safety Standards.Ensure the development, execution, monitoring and improvement of all the site pre-requisite programs including but not limited to; the Site Master Sanitation Schedule, the Pest Control Program, Plant GMP/GHPs, Site security as it pertains to legal and regulatory requirements and QandFS.Manage the Sanitation team responsible for general daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning of a pet food manufacturing site.Key Responsibilities Implement and coordinate the activities surrounding the MSS (master sanitation schedule)Write and maintain SSOPs; conduct record reviewOversee, track, identify and communicate any trends in hygiene findings, microbiological results, pest activity and GMP trends to Management; prepare respective reportsResponsible for hygiene at the site with specific attention to process flow and continuous reduction of microbiological loadAudit daily sanitation practices and coordinate and audit the GMP and HACCP Programs and communicate results and trends to provide actionable data for the manufacturing facility to drive improvement.Monitors for compliance to ISO, HACCP, FMSA and MARS mandatory policies and procedures. Reports to senior management on the status of that compliance and assists in the generation of action plans to close gaps.Provides advice on problem resolution and assists with regulatory, customer and 3rd party audits (eg. LRQA, FDA) and inspections.Conducts root cause analysis investigations through swabbing and sampling to resolves quality deviations and customer complaints; reporting and communicating findings as necessary.Participate as a member of the food safety teamBudget cost management and suppliers ordering and inventory management of cleaning suppliesCollaborate with sister sites, Regional and Global Hygiene Coordinators; participate in seminarsAssist with all sanitation preparation and execution as requiredProvide training in the areas of: sanitation; contractor GMPs/GHPs; environmental swabbing, sampling and aseptic collection of fines and finished products; and pest controlLead and participate in continuous improvement activities and implement corrective actions as requiredCoordinate with relevant parties (Shift Managers and Sanitation Team) to verify cleaning resultsSafety: All PPE must be worn in compliance with the OHSA/MARS/Royal Canin requirementsEnforce/Respect the safety rules and the internal policyStop any equipment/operative works/external company works if safety/environment protection/fire protection rules are brokenSupport and promote plant safety and health within the PlantEnsure all hygiene chemicals are supported by MSDS, COSSH and Risk AssessmentsConduct risk assessments for all new chemicalsParticipate in the BBS programsContext and Scope The primary duty of this job is to ensure the execution of the MSS. This includes developing SSOPs, creating forms, training associates, record review and report preparationCollect samples and prepare shipments for environmental swabs, fines, Raw Materials and Finished Goods.Conduct sampling for water, air and compressed air testingAssist with plant shut down and fogging activitiesTo achieve these responsibilities, the Sanitation and Hygiene Manager will be required to attend any training program as scheduled by company management and train any designated back up in the position.Job Specifications /Qualifications Education and Professional Qualifications High school diploma or GED2 years' experience in sanitation around manufacturingKnowledge of GMP, Sanitation and 5S PracticesExperience working in a manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of safetyAbility to work overtimeAble and willing to travel internationallyComputer experience (MS Office)Full range of motion, correctable eyesight
