Phelps County Regional Medical Center Nurse Recruiter in Rolla, Missouri

General Summary

  • Under general direction and guidance from the CHRO and CNO, develops and implements strategies to positively market Phelps Health to nursing professionals. Coordinates recruitment and retention efforts to include candidate sourcing, interview procedures, and background and reference checks in concert with other Human Resources staff. Develops and enhances ongoing relationships with nursing schools and universities. Designs and places recruitment advertising and develops and executes customized recruitment campaigns, along with other recruitment strategies.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops short and long-term strategies and plans for marketing and recruiting nursing positions. Evaluates strategies on an ongoing basis.

  • Maintain records related to nursing recruitment activities, expenses, and progress toward goals/outcomes.

  • Designs and implements effective advertising strategies in local, regional, and national media to include newspapers, trade journals, internet, social media, schools, and/or radio.

  • Network with state, regional and national professional organizations and other healthcare organizations to identify potential candidates and promote nursing opportunities at Phelps Health.

  • Coordinates regular meetings with hiring manager, nursing administration and human resources staff to ensure all parties are knowledge of current recruitment activities, status of searches, positing status, and roles/responsibilities of each.

  • Coordinates and represents Phelps Health career opportunities at career fairs and other healthcare events.

  • Establishes and enhances relationships with high schools, colleges, and vocational schools to develop clinical education opportunities and recruit graduates; develop programs to promote nursing careers in secondary schools.

  • Performs initial screening interviews to determine candidate qualifications and presents sound recommendations to hiring managers based on findings from the pre-screening phase of the recruitment process.

  • Works closely with hiring managers, Human Resources, and Nursing Administration to ascertain recruitment needs and develop customized recruitment strategies to fill openings.

  • Works with CHRO or Talent Management Specialist to confirm or determine appropriate compensation offers and adjustments.

  • Nurse Recruiter functions as a clinical liaison between AHEC and nursing schools to assist with communication regarding clinical calendar and coordination of clinical rotations at Phelps Health.

  • Attends local/regional Pinning Ceremonies and presents clinical Excellence awards.

  • Coordinates new hire paperwork, processes, and onboarding with hiring managers.

  • Regularly communicates with hiring managers and other key stakeholders regarding new hires.

    Job Qualifications

  • Education

  • Will consider applicants with Associate Degree in Nursing with evidence of BSN in progress.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Work Experience

  • A working knowledge of recruitment and general human resource practices and/or nursing practices as would normally be acquired through a minimum of two years' experience in nursing, recruitment or human resources is required. A working knowledge of computer applications including experience with Word and Excel is required.

  • Certification/License

  • Must possess a current Missouri Nursing License if a Registered Nurse. Must possess a valid Missouri Driver's license.

    Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Average mental concentration on largely variable operations. Attention to detail and ability to carry out multiple tasks/projects simultaneously required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 15 pounds.

    Working Conditions

  • Works in standard office conditions with minimal physical discomfort. Travel is required approximately 15% of the time.
