The Opportunity

The Proposal Writer is part of Abt’s Proposal Center of Excellence and is responsible for producing professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the organization’s value proposition, win themes, features, and benefits to US Federal Civilian agencies. They ensure responsiveness, clarity, coherence, and compliance with RFx requirements.

Core Responsibilities

Content Development and Persuasive Writing:

  • Author assigned sections of the proposal, ensuring responsiveness and compliance with schedules.

  • Gather relevant information and synthesize it coherently into easily understood sections that are responsive, complete, and compliant with RFx requirements.

  • Leverage strong verbal and written communication skills to craft compelling content that effectively communicates our value proposition

Editing and Revision:

  • Conduct substantive editing of proposal responses to enhance coherence and strengthen arguments.

  • Review and edit for clarity, consistency, and formatting.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and guidelines, such as Shipley-based proposal development processes.

What We Value

  • Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree + 5 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 3 years of relevant experience.

  • 3+ years’ experience in writing and editing proposals for US Government Federal Civilian clients.

  • Attention to detail and complex problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully writing and editing proposal documents for US Federal Civilian agencies.

  • Familiarity with Shipley-based proposal development process.

  • USAID-specific experience preferred.

  • APMP membership preferred.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $62,000 to $105,000   Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
