Lead and support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Emerging Technology consulting projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Objective
Lead and support Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Emerging Technology projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Responsibilities
Lead delivery of ITS and emerging technology projects to VDOT; this includes strategic and hands-on management support for the Regional Multi-Modal Mobility Program (RM3P).
Apply ITS knowledge and methodologies in systems engineering, strategic planning, technology assessments, data management, applications oversight, project/program evaluations, benefit-cost analyses, etc.
Lead and support preparation and review of ITS-related technical documentation, including system requirements, concepts of operations, system designs, test and validation plans, field deployment plans, operations plans, etc.
Manage project controls, including monitoring project/task progress and performance, and overseeing schedules, budgets, risks, etc.
Interface with the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and ensure that VDOT’s technology projects comply with VITA requirements.
Facilitate client and stakeholder communications and meetings.
Develop and manage project task orders, including task planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor activities.
Identify and cultivate new work opportunities.
Qualifications
8-10 years of progressive professional experience delivering ITS engineering services to state and federal transportation agencies.
PE and/or PTOE license in Virginia
Certification as a VITA Project Manager, or ability to gain certification within 6 months.
Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) desirable.
Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging strategies and technologies, including traffic management, integrated corridor management, multi-modal management, demand management, transportation operations, decision support, modeling/simulation, prediction, and big data.
Proficiency in analytical and strategic thinking; verbal and written communications; and collaborative leadership.
