Job Details Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director, supervises technical and support personnel and reports findings. Performs test requiring special scientific skill. Is responsible for proper performance of all laboratory procedures. Contact with pathologist, nursing billing department, medical staff, patients of all ages, maintenance, IT and company sales and service representatives Responsibilities Manages department operations including: planning, organizing and directing activities. Develop goals and objectives. Establish and implement policies and procedures. Resolves problems and issues. Supervises QC/QA activities to ensure high lab standards are maintained. Section procedure manuals are maintained to meet standards set forth by regulation agencies (JC, NYSDOH, OSHA, AABB, FDA, etc.) Keeps Director informed of any unusual concerns, situations, or conditions relative to staff, patients, families or physicians. Ensures proper staffing levels, completion and adherence of staffing schedules. Interviews job applicants and selects quality personnel. Coordinates orientation, and competency of new employees. Maintains employee files which include but are not limited to attendance records, performance evaluations, continuing education, competency records, counseling and disciplinary actions, written requests, grievances and follow-up. Ensures disciplinary action is taken per established policy and procedure when unsatisfactory performance is identified. Addresses budgetary restraints, makes recommendations to resolve issues and make improvements. Prepares annual department budgets. Qualifications: B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. Meets standard requirement of New York State Department of Health for Qualifications as a Supervisor Six years clinical laboratory experience, subsequent to qualifying of which at least two years have been spent working in a clinical laboratory as required by NYSDOH, knowledge of automated and manual laboratory equipment, computers, and peripherals, excellent organizational skills. Must be able to recognize and handle hazardous conditions inherent to the Laboratory environment New York State license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required Salary Range USD $53.23 - USD $66.85 /Hr. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
