Job Title: Billing SpecialistJob Description
The Billing Specialist will have the knowledge required to complete any and all billing tasks needed to complete the billing cycle in a timely manner. The specialist will work with insurance providers, nursing center staff, and prescriber's offices. Support and feedback regarding billing errors will be provided to pharmacy personnel. Prior medical/pharmacy billing experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
Run and review daily and monthly logs and correct any coding errors.
Post monthly charges, credits, and adjustments to patient and facility accounts.
Make changes to patient and facility accounts as they occur, such as changes of address and billing status.
Run monthly accounts receivable statements and prepare statements for mailing.
Complete billing on or before the deadline as specified by the President/Vice President and/or Facility.
Process incoming and outgoing correspondence as needed.
Complete proper forms for the completion of collection letters.
Track dates of collection letters and any responses or other pertinent information needed if the account must be sent to the collection agency.
Turn bad debt accounts over to the Billing Supervisor after all necessary attempts for collection have been made.
Perform prescription claims adjudications for all pharmacy insurance programs.
Handle Med-A billing to nursing facilities.
Handle billing rejections for the pharmacy.
Manage the refill-to-soon rejections process.
Assist with prescription billing errors.
Manage prior authorization prescription orders.
Input new patient profiles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Computer skills, including fundamental knowledge of Windows-based software programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically MS Excel
Excellent phone and customer service skills
Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Adherence to regulatory and company compliance, including OSHA, DEA, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
Understanding and promotion of rules and regulations governing residents' rights
High school diploma or GED required
At least one year of pharmacy billing experience preferred
Ability to maintain regular attendance
Dependability and ability to work with minimal supervision
Work Environment
This position is based in an office environment with working hours from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
