SONOGRAPHER (ULTRASOUND) TECHNOLOGIST

SITE OF SERVICE:

• Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree: Certificate.
• Education: Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
• Certification: Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)
• Additional Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) hands-on course through American Heart Association.
• Experience: A minimum experience of two years within the last 3 years with at least 6 months continuous experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
• Orientation:
  • The HCWs shall comply with the requirements for orientation. Orientation will be conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 0700 to 1630.
  • Each HCW will undergo a maximum of 40 hours or one week of orientation.
  • During this period, the HCW will perform under the observation of a Government Ultrasound Technologist for the purpose of becoming familiar with MTF equipment and protocols prior to performance of on-call services. Orientation is priced separately.
• U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
• English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
• HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services.

HOURS:

• On-Call Services. The contractor shall provide on-call services weekdays, weekends, and the day of observance of Federal holidays. Weekday on-call services will begin at 1730 until 0700 the following morning. Weekend on-call services will be for a 24 hour period between the hours of 0700 - 0700 Saturdays, Sundays, and the day of observance of Federal holidays.
• On-call service is defined as carrying an electronic paging or mobile device while not on-site and responding to calls from the Naval Hospital by telephone within 15 minutes to provide clinical consultation. The Government will not be providing the electronic device to be used for on-call service. It is the contractors responsibility to ensure that the ultrasound technologist has a reliable method of communication while on on-call. On-call schedule will be provided to the Contractor after task order award and shall be provided at least four weeks in advance thereafter. The Contractor shall submit a completed schedule to the Contracting Officers Representative (COR) two weeks before services are scheduled to start. The schedule shall be complete and include the name and contact number of the specific individual(s) who will provide the required on-call coverage. A minimum 72-hour notice of changes to the work schedule is required. The 72-hour notice shall be waived for emergency situations such as sudden illness or accident.
• Call-Back Services. While on on-call duty, the HCW may be called into the MTF to provide services. If required to report to the MTF, the HCW shall arrive at the Radiology Department prepared to provide services within 1 hour of the MTFs request. Historical data indicates the number of actual on-site occurrences is approximately 12 times per week (including weekends) depending on the emergency room needs. Billable call back hours commence upon arrival by the HCW at the MTF prepared to render services. The contractor will be reimbursed for not less than 2 hours when the HCW is called back to the MTF. Historical data indicates that call-back services averages approximately 40 hours per week. The contractor shall separately bill for these services in accordance with the hourly rate for call- back as outlined in he task order. The contractor shall bill for either on-call or call-back services, not both concurrently.

CORE DUTIES:

• Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate.
• Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with Radiology Department policies and procedures.
• Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to Military Treatment Facility (MTF) protocol.
• Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
• Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects.Flexible and able to work with various personalities.Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
