BAC aka Brevard Achievement Center Employment Transition Generalist in Rockledge, Florida

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides guidance and various community linkages to participants and associates participating in BAC programs to support them and facilitate their successful handling of issues. Provides assistance and instruction in education and independent living skills for BAC participants. Provides administrative help for programming of curriculum. Participates in community outings. Provides transportation for BAC participants to and from their home and work or training in agency vehicle.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The list of essential functions below is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.

  • Works directly with participants to teach life skills and to make sure that both individual and agency goals are met.
  • Performs meaningful activities training with the participants.
  • Participates in program outings.
  • Cross-trains between classrooms to maintain familiarity with all participants and classroom specific programming.
  • Cross-trains and fill in with Coordinators as needed.
  • Providestransportation of BAC participants to their scheduled destinations; remains flexible regarding the daily schedule due to changes in participant needs or traffic issues.
  • Maintainstransportation vehicle and work area (example: vehicle, floor, machinery, equipment).
  • Helps provide guidance to participants working on designated activities.
  • Provides departmental assistance to include substitute teaching for classes, providing administrative support, taking attendance, supervising the cafeteria, etc.
  • Ensures active coordination and professionalism in all contacts with consumers, authorized representatives, funding and community sources, and staff to maximize services and resolve issues.
  • Manage physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, toileting, feeding, transitioning and ambulation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in social work, behavioral science, or related field
  • Two or more years of experience working in social services
  • An equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may suffice for the above requirements.
  • Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level 2 background screening requirements.
  • First aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications.
  • Valid Drivers' license. Maintain a clean driving record and appropriate insurance; may also be required to have or obtain additional formal industry certification(s) based on area of assignment. May be required to transport clients utilizing their own vehicle and or agency vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with disability-service and multi-division organizations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Manage confidential employment information with tact and discretion.
  • Manage multiple priorities to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, capabilities, limitations and safety aspects of transport vehicles.
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Operate a computer using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable department/organization specific software.
  • Exercise discretion and independ nt judgment in the performance of the job.

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE(IF APPLICABLE)

Authorized to access and work on government installations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Depending on the functional area of the assignment, tasks involve the routine performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 40 pounds). Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment. Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. These requirements can be done with or without reasonable accommodation.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Tasks are regularly performed inside without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (example: dirt, cold, rain, fumes).

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.

Availability: 30 hours

Rate of pay: starting at $17.50 per hour
