Health First Chief Financial Officer - Community Health Services in Rockledge, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for ensuring the success of the financial operations of Community Health Services, including Health First Medical Group and Outpatient Wellness Services, focusing on its strategic vision. The CFO articulates the financial strategies that support the Organization’s long-term business plans and supports the leadership team through high-level financial oversight. The CFO provides Community Health Services with exceptional tangible and intangible returns, supports the Management Team with financial insight, and enhances CHS’s reputation as a competitive and financially stable institution. The Chief Financial Officer will provide collaborative leadership in the ongoing development, implementation, and management of CHS’s financial activities. The CFO’s job responsibilities range from leading and optimizing organizational fiscal and revenue cycle performance to participation in the strategic development of the organization. The CFO will direct CHS’s financial functions in a way that facilitates strategic initiatives and operational excellence. The Community Health Services Chief Financial Officer reports directly to the President of Community Health Services with a dotted line report to the Executive VP/Chief Financial Officer of Health First. The CHS CFO is responsible for establishing and maintaining productive relationships with various other key stakeholders within CHS. In addition to these internal reporting functions, the CHS CFO coordinates with Health First Corporate Finance and Tax in working with external financial advisors, auditors, regulators, and tax authorities on matters related to CHS.

  • PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES*

    1. Ensures the effective and efficient management of CHS’s financial operations.
    2. Participates with leadership to develop, recommend, and execute a financial strategy for CHS that supports its business strategies. Evaluates and advises stakeholders on the impact of long-range planning, strategies, new initiatives, and the changing regulatory environment.
    3. Partners with CHS operational leaders to drive financially effective solutions while also serving the operational needs of the patients and providers.
    4. Develops and maintains credibility for the CHS Department of Finance by directing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the Management Team in performing their responsibilities.
    5. Assures professional growth and development of direct reports and their respective staff members.
    6. Develops and implements the CHS Department of Finance’s staffing plan, organizational structure, financial standards, and policies.
    7. Provides support and leadership in conjunction with the Health First Revenue Cycle and CHS operational leadership to ensure a high performing and compliant revenue cycle function.
    8. Provides financial direction on any contracts negotiated or entered into by CHS.
    9. Implementing a financial system and policies in newly acquired physician practices.
  1. With the Health First Controller, plans, develops, implements, leads, and evaluates the organization’s fiscal functions and performance.
  2. Coordinates the departmental annual budget preparation process. Participates in continually improving the budgeting process by educating stakeholders on financial issues impacting their budgets. Plans, monitors, evaluates, and takes corrective action on CHS’s Department of Finance expenses.
  3. Leading the financial analysis of physician practices.
  4. Participating or leading in negotiations for potential physician practice acquisitions.
  5. Calculating compensation and bonuses per contract with physicians.
  6. Serves as a resource for technical and financial knowledge for all stakeholders.
  7. Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, including evaluating potential alliances, affiliations, and acquisitions.
  8. Enhances departmental efficiencies through the appropriate use of technology.
  9. Participation in the formulation of physician development and integration strategies.
  10. Supporting the improvement of physician practice performance to meet financial targets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Work Experience: Ten (10) years’ experience in various aspects of health care finance or physician practice management.

  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Ability to handle multiple high-level situations in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to make appropriate business decisions quickly.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to physician and staff demands.
  • Ability to assess, interpret data, and educate staff.

    PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensure: Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.

  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite, or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
