Job Description
Utilities (MI) Technician - Rotating Shift - Rockland, ME
The Utilities Technician is accountable for operating the steam plant and waste treatment facilities in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards.
Responsibilities:
Support your team in making deliberate improvements in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) as well as housekeeping performance.
Ensure 100% compliance of assigned EHS requirements, process safety, food safety, and quality standards. As well as executing required preventative, autonomous maintenance and equipment sanitation work practices.
Safe completion of life critical activities in production areas including development and execution of lock, tag, try procedures (LTT).
Identify and implement improvements in systems, processes, and personal development and as assigned by department and/or shift Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
Ensure all training requirements are met within the specified time frames and training other personnel as required by Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager.
Ensure preventative, autonomous maintenance and equipment sanitation work practices are executed as required by department
Performs and assist with maintenance and preventative maintenance (PM) of the steam generation and distribution systems as well as air compressors and air distribution systems
Conduct routine leak surveys (steam, water, air, oil, etc.)
Initiate and performs work order tasks and support work order flow through MMIS
Performs troubleshooting of site’s mechanical systems, basic valve maintenance and replace steam traps
Supports scoping and planning of work orders
Follows parts procurement procedures
Ability to obtain and utilize State of Maine boiler license

Job Requirements
The following are requirements for this position:
High School Diploma or High school equivalent (HSE) including GED and Maine HiSET
State of Maine High Pressure Boiler Operator’s License or State of Maine’s Engineers License or ability to obtain either license within 6 months of hire date
Minimum of 1-3 years maintenance experience with two-year trade college degree or minimum of 3 years maintenance experience or technical school experience with reference letter
Valid Driver’s License
Mechanical aptitude
Basic computer skills (Word, Email, Web, Etc.)
The following knowledge, skills and experience are helpful but not required:
Knowledge of preventative/predictive maintenance (PM) techniques
Knowledge of LOTO process and safety
Powered Industrial Truck experience
Mechanical and safety aptitude will be reviewed and tested
Must be independent, self-motivated, and capable of multi-tasking
Manufacturing environment experience (Food, Industrial, Chemical, Etc.)
