We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) Mechanical Buy group within the Engine Control Systems organization. In this role, you’ll work closely with suppliers and customers to design, develop, and enhance aerospace components for Pratt & Whitney Pure Power programs. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the scope, schedule, cost, and risk of projects for mechanical components in your assigned portfolio.

  • Own development, validation, incorporation, and field investigations for mechanical components in your portfolio.

  • Coordinating team meeting agendas, lead team meetings, and drive action item closures.

  • Control project scope, including status and corrective action plans to cost and schedule challenges.

  • Coordination of engineering change activities from supplier to customer, and owner of Collins Source Control drawing changes.

  • Coordination and drive supplier failure investigation activities.

  • Drive issue resolution for assembly, test, and procurement challenges.

  • Ensure that technical requirements are correctly flowed to the Supplier.

  • Ensure that the Supplier correctly interprets, allocates, derives, validates, and traces the requirements during the design and testing of the product.

  • Ensure that the product testing is correctly documented, performed, and approved, and that it provides complete verification of requirements.

  • Maintain segregation of Customer, Supplier and Collins Intellectual Property.

  • Ensure Supplier processes are documented and meet acceptable standards and ensure proper design reviews are conducted.

  • Engage appropriate technical expertise from within Collins to cover areas outside of their engineering background or experience.

  • Coordinate with Collins and Supplier’s Quality, Program Quality, Service Engineering, Aftermarket Program Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Management and Value Stream Management departments.

  • Write and review technical documents, and route for approval as needed to support program deliverables and milestones.

    Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • Project Management experience.

  • Experience working with suppliers and customers.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

  • Experience with Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) in aerospace industry.

  • Familiarity with engine systems, actuators, fuel valves, and oil valves.

  • Experience with project cost estimating, budgeting and earned value.

  • Experience writing project statements of work and quote request packages.

  • Experience with customer technical support and product ownership.

  • Experience leading root cause and corrective action.

  • Experience releasing and changing engineering drawings and specifications.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
