Monroe Community College Transfer Coordinator (Coordinator II) in Rochester, New York

Function of Position:

Transfer planning is an essential component of MCC's holistic student supports model that promotes equitable outcomes for students in college completion, transfer, and social and economic mobility. The Transfer Coordinator is a member of the Student Success and Strategic Initiative team and is focused on developing and maintaining transfer college partnerships with SUNY and private four-year colleges. This includes creating and updating transfer advising guides designed to optimize graduates' ability to transfer their credits to four-year institutions and work toward a baccalaureate degree without loss of time or credits. In addition, the Transfer Coordinator is committed to working with academic departments to promote transfer programs that help students maintain timely progress through degree programs and logical selection of coursework that aligns with transfer and career goals. The Transfer Coordinator is expected to oversee the development, execution, and management of a comprehensive transfer program focusing on services for students. This position reports to the Director and requires working occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary Functions:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of MCC's partnership colleges; this includes admission requirements, curriculum, course selection, application process, and transition to the four-year institution

  • Meet with students to discuss their career, transfer, and educational goals

  • Initiate follow-up with partnership colleges regarding annual curricular changes and revise all transfer guide sheets annually

  • Continuously monitor/revise/update Transfer Planning Guides, Career Guides, and other transfer resources for accuracy and compliance

  • Provide partnership colleges with current updated 2+2 competitive admission student lists as required and/or requested

  • Update and maintain 2+2 pathway database

  • Monitor and review students' transcripts for 2+2 competitive admission to ensure students continue to meet 2+2 guidelines and requirements; develop correspondence to reach out to students who no longer meet 2+2 requirements

  • Review major changes for the 2+2 competitive admission programs

  • Coordinate and expand the Advisor-In-Residence program

  • Correspond with enrolled students regarding changes/updates to transfer programs

  • Track upcoming graduates to ensure they are following their established educational plan

  • Run year end reports for all 2+2 Transfer Pathways

  • Interface and collaborate with various other departments (Advisement, Admissions, Registration and Records, Graduation Office) regarding transfer students to ensure a smooth transfer outcome

  • Coordinate an annual Transfer Fair

  • Coordinate with campus offices and centers to market and promote transfer opportunities to students

Secondary Functions:

  • Participate in internal and external professional development organizations and committees as able (ex. New York State Transfer and Articulation Association, MCC Honors Council, 4-year college advisory boards)

  • Interpret relevant college policies and procedures for students, faculty, and staff

  • Participate in events outside of regular college hours, such as college open houses and advisement events

  • Serve on committees and participate in meetings as recommended by the Director

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree from an accredited higher education institution

  • Minimum of three to five years professional experience in student services, advising, counseling or related field

  • Possess a strong understanding of college student development and ability to educate college students on navigating the higher education system

  • Experience with BANNER and other software programs used by the College (such as Starfish and MS Office)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Community college experience

  • Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs and commitment to supporting an inclusive environment on campus

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration

  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

    Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $53,430 to $55,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.
