Fujifilm System Engineer in Rochester, New York

Overview

The Systems Engineer will report to a Software Architecture Manager and be responsible for collaborating with Software Development, Service, and Operations teams to ensure the successful release, deployment, and operations of SSD software and the integrity of our interconnected system of solutions. The Systems Engineer II serves as a key knowledge source for the integration of our interconnected applications and the equipment configurations they support.

The Systems Engineer analyzes requirements and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements. The Systems Engineer II provides technical expertise for the integration of requirements, design, and technology and collaborates with Development and Service teams to incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations. The Systems Engineer acts as a focal point for support and the customers regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.

FUJIFILM North America Corporation, a marketing subsidiary of FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation, consists of six operating divisions. The Imaging Division provides consumer and commercial photographic products and services, including silver halide consumables; inkjet consumables; digital printing equipment, along with service and support; personalized photo products fulfillment; film; one-time-use cameras; and the popular INSTAX® line of instant cameras, smartphone printers, instant film, and accessories . The Electronic Imaging Division markets its GFX System and X Series lines of mirrorless digital cameras, lenses, and accessories to provide a variety of content creation solutions for both still and moving imagery. The Optical Devices Division provides optical lenses for the broadcast, cinematography, closed circuit television, videography, and industrial markets, and also markets binoculars and other optical imaging solutions. The Graphic Communication Division utilizes its extensive industry knowledge to develop fully supported traditional and digital print solutions for industries including commercial print, wide format, and packaging with its comprehensive line of digital inkjet presses, production toner printers, and software. The Industrial Products Division delivers new products derived from Fujifilm technologies including data storage tape products, including OEM and FUJIFILM Ultrium LTO cartridges, desalination solutions, microfilters and gas separation membranes. The Non-Destructive Testing Division delivers radiography solutions to ensure high accuracy inspection of transportation infrastructure, and assets within aerospace, and oil and gas industries.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes user / software requirements and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements.

  • Provides technical expertise for the integration of requirements, design, and technology and collaborates with Development and Service teams to incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.

  • Acts as a focal point for support and the customers regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.

  • Participates and collaborates in team project planning, development, and reviews.

  • Defines and execute plans to validate system performance for software application releases.

  • Provides scoping and estimation for new software releases for the Systems Engineering work.

  • Serves as a knowledge source for the behavior of our applications as integrated solutions.

  • Maintains strong knowledge of supported equipment capabilities and functions and incorporates this knowledge into system level requirements for new application releases.

  • Shares responsibility in the implementation of features to ensure completeness and interactivity across all our systems.

  • Ensure that the proper infrastructure is in place for features.

  • Integrates 3rd party input/output devices for new and existing products.

  • Creates software installation procedures and applications to ensure correct installation across multiple equipment platforms.

  • Provides system configuration changes as needed for new projects/development.

  • Works with Service and Development to define software installation requirements and create installers that support these requirements.

  • Works with Development teams to ensure builds include all of the targeted bug fixes/functionality.

  • Provides build and configuration management support for new software builds and releases to our Service organization.

  • Work with Product Owners and Development to gather and publish release notes for QA and Service.

  • Works with Technical Writers to provide input on documentation of existing and new products.

  • Travel to customer sites to install pre-release software for evaluation.

  • Travel to customer sites to investigate issues.

  • Providing technical training for the Technical Services team for new products.

  • Serves as an escalation point for the Technical Services team for software issues reported during the field trials and post-release.

  • Assist with support of current engineering issues.

  • Diagnose software issues. Determine and recommend solutions to maximize customer satisfaction and increase efficiency

  • Troubleshoot and resolve high level technical issues and interface with developers to implement resolutions as necessary.

  • Assesses equipment needs and establishes plans for the effective distribution, setup and usage of equipment in our lab.

  • Assists with lab equipment setup and maintenance.

Required Skills/Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related area and 3-5 years of experience in the field or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience with agile / scrum or similar methodologies

  • Work in a team environment with a “can-do” attitude

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle

  • Solid English communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Demonstrate expertise with the following:

  • NSIS

  • Microsoft Windows including installation and configuration

  • Visual Studio

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Test Execute and Test Complete is a plus.

  • Direct experience with working in an Agile Software Development process, preferably SCRUM.

  • Proficiency with Team Foundation Server is a plus.

  • Proficiency with computer hardware and components is a plus.
