The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Provides primary healthcare services in medical imaging with physician supervision. Under the supervision, guidance and direction of the physician, exercises autonomy in decision making in the role of a primary health care provider with regard to patient assessment, patient management and in providing a broad range of radiology diagnostic and interventional services.
CORE DUTIES:
Clinical:
The RPA will evaluate the schedule of procedures with the supervising physician and determine where his/her skills will be best utilized. The RPA will perform procedures including, but not limited to:
Fluoroscopic procedures (static and dynamic)
Ultrasound, Computed Tomography or Fluoroscopic guided biopsies
Ultrasound, Computed Tomography or Fluoroscopic guided drainages and drainage catheter placements
Arthrograms
Myelograms
Vascular Access Procedures (Arteriograms, Venograms)
Venous Access Procedures (Declots, Permacath Placements, Central Line Placement)
IVC Filter Placement
Fistulagrams
Gastrostomies
GI Studies
Urograms
VCUG
Retrograde Urethrograms
Other clinical duties include:
Obtain clinical history from patient or medical record
Evaluate Medical Images, review preliminary reports and images with supervising physician, and prepare technical reports that will be reviewed and signed off by the supervising physician
Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient
Participate in patient management, including prescriptive powers for acquisition of additional imaging procedures, following review with the supervising physician
Obtain consent for and administer and/or order intravenous medications and contrast media, under the supervision of a physician
Participate in facility quality assurance program
Physician & Procedural Support
Check medical record for pre-procedure lab results
Communicate the reports of radiologist's findings to a referring physician or an appropriate representative with appropriate documentation
Determine appropriateness of ordered medical imaging examinations and procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
Be a graduate of an educational program recognized by the CBRPA
Certified by the CBRPA or be considered eligible for the CBRPA certification examination
Maintenance of an active radiographer registration status Current certification in Advanced Life Support (ACLS) skills
Obtain and maintain registration by the State of New York as a Radiologic Specialist Assistant under Title 8, Article 131-C, Section 6548, Education Law and Part 60 of the New York State Education Department Commissioner's Regulations.
