CACI's Mastodon Design team in Rochester, NY is looking to hire a Quality Engineer who will support the Quality Team across the operations enterprise to ensure products exceed quality expectations of our customers. The Quality Engineer will provide guidance to the QC inspection personnel while interfacing and contributing to multiple functions and projects across the company. The scope of responsibility for this position is broad, ranging from supplier quality support, incoming material quality assurance, operational process control and participation with new product introduction quality planning. As such, this position offers a unique “hands on hardware” opportunity to the candidate who possesses a broad quality background with proven ability to work across an organization tactically and strategically.

More About the Role:

  • Provide quality team support, focused on tactical response to daily operational issues. Conduct analyses of internal scrap, and other forms of waste related to the cost of poor quality. Provide recommendations to the Quality and Operations Teams for continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and drive action items to closure. Oversee quality containment activities on raw material, subassemblies or finished goods as required to ensure root cause analysis is completed and corrective action plans are clearly identified and executed effectively/efficiently.

  • Execute the QMS processes for identification and control of non-conforming material and initiate Corrective Action processes. Ensure issues are resolved and effective quality countermeasures are in place.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering and vendors to identify critical to quality and critical to assembly characteristics. Monitor the incorporation of any required changes.

  • Support the implementation, review, and improvement of the Mastodon Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure that processes and products comply with applicable quality and customer requirements.

  • Perform internal audit function to maintain Mastodon QMS compliance to documented procedures and national (ISO) standards.

  • Support company ESD program to ensure training and equipment are in place. Audit the ESD program and identify opportunities to continually improve the program.

  • Support the calibration process by ensuring gaging and equipment are routinely calibrated to the schedule. Take action on out of tolerance conditions.

  • Audit product ready for final shipment to ensure the shipment is in compliance with the current BOM and customer expectations.

  • Backfill the inspection process as required.

  • Perform other duties as required from the Quality Manager.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Quality or equivalent.

  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control. Experience working in an ISO-9001/AS9100 Quality Management System environment.

  • Experience with electronics manufacturing to include IPC standards, inspection processes (electrical and mechanical), and mechanical fabrication processes.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • IPC certification (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001), SMT and X-Ray inspection experience a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to communicate efficiently at various levels of multiple (non-quality based) organizations.

  • Ability to use basic measuring tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauge, pins, thread gauges, etc.

  • Broad background of experience weighted heavy in manufacturing and quality processes, proven ability to be a self-starter, demonstrated ability to work across multiple organizations within a company.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$52,300-$107,200
