Design work-holding equipment to facilitate customer part requirements for all Specialized Gear Services (SGS) applications.

Essential Function:

  • Design work-holding equipment to facilitate customer part requirements for all Specialized Gear Services (SGS) applications. Tooling must have a focus on flexibility, quality, reasonable cost and manufacturing ease.

  • Ensure that the design is efficient and flexible.

  • Create shop methods as required for all SGS releases.

  • Create shop prints and shop methods for customer parts.

  • Create, open, track and close production orders in SAP.

  • Prepare product for shipment from SAP. Assist in production planning for the SGS area.

  • Participate as required in any or all, lean improvement activities.

  • Work with internal and external customers in a cooperative and corporate beneficial fashion.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of and continued implementation of Lean and/or Six Sigma philosophy.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Pro-E experience required.

  • Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering preferred but extensive Gleason experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Basic understanding of cylindrical & bevel gears and work holding equipment.

  • Goal-oriented team player; self-starter able to work with others as well as carry out written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability & desire to interact directly with customers.

  • Some travel & entertaining customers required.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.

Education:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

  • and 1 to 3 year(s) related experience

  • And/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The following is considered a plus: Work holding equipment design experience; Gleason product line knowledge; SAP experience; project management skills; manufacturing background; exposure to Curvic® couplings; ability to assist in accurately quoting and managing projects.
