SUMMARY: Delphi Rise is thrilled to partner with the Volunteers of America (VOA) to provide substance use prevention services in their childrens center located at 214 Lake Avenue in Rochester. The Prevention Counselor will work on site at Volunteers of America, but will be fully integrated into the Delphi Prevention Team and will receive clinical and administrative oversight from Delphi Rise. The Counselor will be responsible for implanting evidence based prevention programs within the classroom, and through their work with children, staff and parent, build a culture where students thrive. This role involves providing evidence-based group instruction; conducting educational workshops for staff and families; collaborating with teachers, parents, and community resources; and fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive childcare environment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver evidence-based Incredible Years curricula with a focus on targeting social and emotional skills, behavioral management, and mental health/substance use awareness. Adapt curricula to meet the diverse needs and backgrounds of children and families enrolled in VOA programming. Partner with parents/caregivers to improve their understanding of their childs behavioral health needs and strengthen their capacity to provide support at home. This includes but is not limited to facilitating parent education sessions on topics such as positive parenting techniques, communication skills, and stress management. Provide resources, referrals, and guidance to parents/caregivers seeking additional support services for their children. Build and maintain a network of service providers on which to draw support. Utilize evidence-based programs in the classroom and in small groups to promote prosocial engagement. Provide training to staff to further their skill development working with children and creating a safe and healthy learning environment. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal Law. Attend staff meetings and consultations as required by Delphi Rise and VOA. Participate in supervision with the Delphi Rise Program Director and meet with VOA staff as required. Document activities and service provision as required by funder. Attend trainings and workshops to keep abreast of current substance use trends, techniques and for skill development. Any other task which may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related field is strongly preferred. A Bachelors is required A CASAC, CPP, or other NYS recognized QHP status is preferred Two years of experience in counseling and/or the delivery of evidence-based curricula in a school or social service setting is required Experience working with young children and families is required
