Function of Position:
The position reports directly to the Senior Technical Assistant of the Hospitality Department and indirectly to the Department Chair of Hospitality. Under the direction of the Senior Technical Assistant and/or Department Chair, is primarily responsible for classroom and culinary/restaurant laboratory support..
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
Assists faculty and students in the culinary/restaurant laboratory with daily classroom support and instruction
Cleans, organizes, prepares and equips the culinary/restaurant laboratories for classroom instruction on a daily basis, which may include lifting, moving and set-up of food, supplies and equipment
Food/supply inventory, ordering and procurement
Prepare invoices for payment, and submit to Senior Technical Assistant for processing
Receive delivery of products, and maintain records of delivery. Maintain generally accepted HACCAP and sanitation procedures
Recruit, hire, train and supervise, and maintain work records for student aids and student assistants. Including submission of time sheets
Food costing/Recipe Scaling
Secondary Functions:
Provides assistance for specialty events within the department, including but not limited to: guest lecturers, culinary demonstrations, high school tours, special projects and class events
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Senior Technical Assistant and/or Department Chair

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Earned associate's degree in hospitality/culinary/business or related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution
Practical employment experience
Effective communication skills, both orally and written
Proven ability to work as an enthusiastic team member
Ability and willingness to represent the college and the department in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
Commitment to continued professional growth and development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Earned bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution
Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Pay rate: $17-$20/hour depending on prior experience and departmental budget.
