Detailed Job DescriptionDepartment of Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management, and Safety (CETEMS), College of Engineering Technology (CET) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is inviting applications for a full-time Assistant Research Professor Position.The position carries responsibility in research, teaching and services. The initial appointment of the position is for three years, starting in Fall 2024. The position is a 11 months appointment annually and is eligible for up to 1 summer month salary from research funding. Successful applicants will have experiences in one or more of the following areas of specialty.Geotechnical EngineeringConstruction materials (e.g., cement/asphalt concrete, clay and rocks)Finite element methods (FEM)Constitutive models and lab testing of concreteThe successful applicants will also be able to teach one or more of the following courses.StaticsStrength of MaterialsComputer Aided Design with AutoCADConstruction Materials LabThe position carries one or a combination of the following responsibilities.Teach undergraduate or graduate coursesAssist the host professor in research proposal preparation and implementationDevelop and submit proposals to bring in research funding as Principal InvestigatorScholarship (publications, patents, etc)Assist in laboratory activities and student mentoringAdvising student clubsSummer training course development and coordination. Required Minimum QualificationsBy the time of appointment, the applicant must have an earned PhD degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field.Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural and gender diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.Proficiency in ABQUS and MOOSE
Minimum Salary: 65000 Maximum Salary: 72000 Salary Unit: Yearly
