The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of laboratory leadership at all times and with some latitude to work independently, provides specialized testing and support for the laboratory section. Performs complex technical assignments, which are clearly outlined and require a proficient level of theoretical insight and interpretation. Exercises a moderate degree of skill and judgment and an understanding of the principles and methodologies of laboratory science. Responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all policies (Hospital and Laboratory). Communicates with internal and external clients clearly and professionally.
The Technician is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of patient samples, low complexity/automated test analysis and reporting of results for patient samples. He/She is also responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze patient samples using current low complexity laboratory methods/instrumentation (40%)
Performs quality control and quality assurance protocols (20%)
Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options (20%)
Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist II as needed (10%)
Answers telephone inquiries (5%)
Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed (5%)

Adherence to all laboratory safety procedures.
Participation in continuing education.
Relationships/Authorities:
Technicians report to the Technical Specialists and Supervisors.
Generally works under the guidance of laboratory supervisors or senior technologists, Pathology residents and/or Faculty.
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree in Medical Technology required or
Associate's degree in a natural science, or a clinical laboratory science and coursework acceptable to NYSED required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Clinical Laboratory Technician NYS licensure upon hire required
