Function of Position:

The Youth Employee Coordinator is responsible for working with all campers and staff in relation to health and safety of all employees and campers involved in the Healthy Hero camp. Youth Coordinator is primarily responsible for working with camp leadership, counselors, junior counselors and volunteers in leading and managing behavior related to meeting job requirements, improving outcomes, and assisting with management of daily operations. They will serve as a role model for all staff and display professional behavior at all times.

Youth Employee Coordinator is responsible for partnering with RochesterWorks leadership to recruit and hire junior counselors to work at the camp. They will manage the interviewing and hiring process with RochesterWorks to be sure applicants meet the standards required to become a Junior Camp Counselor. They will work closely with Co-Director, Administration to complete hiring process so that all Junior Counselors are aware of job expectations and are prepared to begin training and orientation.

Youth Employee Coordinator will communicate regularly with all counselors (junior and senior) and Counselors in Training (CITs) to build relationships to monitor behavior among counselors and campers. Staff will work closely with Dean to manage behavioral issues or when additional support of campers is necessary. Youth Coordinator will evaluate junior counselor and CIT job performance and offer training to continue skill growth. They will be responsible for contacting parents/guardians of CITs, as needed.

Youth Coordinator will assist in management of all camp activities, including transportation, sports and academic classes.

*This is a temporary, grant funded position.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage recruitment and hiring process of all Junior Counselors with RochesterWorks.
  • Work closely with camp leadership, Senior Counselors, Junior Counselors and volunteers to assist in management of behavior of staff and campers.
  • Serve as primary contact, mentor, supervisor and trainer of all Junior Counselors and CITs. Responsible for tracking and managing Junior Counselor timesheets each week.
  • Communicate with campers' parents when needed.
  • Identify, report and document all behavior issues of campers or staff.
  • Work closely with camp leadership concerning any health-related or safety concerns.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
  • Report concerns of campers' experiences to Camp Leadership.
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas.
  • Memorize emergency procedures and enforce all camp rules.
  • Participate in Camp trainings and orientation.
  • Ability to take direction from Camp Leadership.
  • Ability to work well with other staff members of all levels of camp

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 years of experience working with young people.
  • Upon hire, completion of Healthy Hero Camp Orientation and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Upbeat, positive and engaging personality.
  • Interest in working with school aged children.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks.
  • Strong age-appropriate organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently



Additional Information:

Dates of temporary assignment: MCC Healthy Hero Camps operation: June 30, 2025 - August 1, 2025. (Closed July 4, 2025).

Hours: Camp Hours are 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Salary: $7,500
