University of Rochester Grants Management Spec II in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Research Grants Associate, reporting to the Supervisor of Business Operations and Finance, is responsible for reliable stewardship of assigned research grants within the Earth & Environmental Sciences (EES) Department and their sponsored awards overseeing strict adherence to contractual terms and all other applicable compliance requirements and terms and conditions per various contractual agreements. This requires monitoring financial transactions and other post-award administration from project set-up and amendments to closeout. The position provides support to EES Faculty as well as senior management within the EES Department. There is a firm expectation the candidate will be a subject matter expert (SME) in UR Financials (Workday Platform) and IORA (Huron Platform pre-award documentation system) within twelve months of hire.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all inputting, set-up, and collection of necessary documents per rules and regulations set forth by granting agencies, internal and external working in conjunction with Office of Research Accounting and Costing Standards (ORACS) and inputting necessary information and documentation into IORA (Huron Platform pre-award documentation system).

  • Provide communication, support, verification, contract update, submission, addendum, and all other applicable and timely requests and needed support to active and potential grants for Faculty of EES, granting institutions and all sub-awardees at any associated institutions, including all no cost extensions as applicable, and in a timely fashion.

  • Perform all necessary close out activities at the end of grant period, being sure to remain in compliance with ORACS reporting standards as applicable

  • Maintain yearly budgets for granting entities, and check for understanding within research groups. Analyzes financial information and interim reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes. Additionally, arrange quarterly meetings with research teams to discuss upcoming funding, and address concerns and provide learning support.

  • Perform Federal Contract Invoicing as delegated.

  • Other duties as assigned, including performing functions of vacant positions as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with NIH grants or other regulatory agency administration, both pre- and post-award reporting and handling of federal research grants

  • Experience in and knowledge of IORA (Integrated Online Research Administration) and federal grant application platforms (e.g. ASSIST)

  • Thorough knowledge of grant and contract administration, including federal regulations and compliance requirements

  • General accounting best practices including financial system exposure and excel skills;

  • Knowledge of finance, have analytical capabilities, and demonstrate good interpersonal skills;

  • Requires sound customer service skills with the ability to interact with all members of the campus community; Excellent communications skills and Computer proficiency.

  • Continuous Learning for Administrators of Sponsored Programs (CLASP) within 1 year

Pay Range

Pay Range: $55,955 - $78,336 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
