Finance Director

Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and experienced finance and accounting professional that would like to be an integral and collaborative part of a unique team in a warm and caring community of artists and educators. This dynamic role will drive our financial strategy and operations, perform a wide range of bookkeeping tasks, and ensure that daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively. Works closely with and supervised by the Executive Director, and is an important part of the leadership team. Must understand not-for-profit work.

Key Responsibilities: Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the Center (banking, sales, invoicing, and other transactions) Process payroll (through Bene-Care) Accounts payable and Accounts receivable; cash management; sales tax reporting Engage in and lead annual budget process Prepare monthly financial reports (using QuickBooks) Oversight of annual audit; liaison to external auditors and regulatory authorities Manage the Centers budget to maximize revenue and identify potential areas of cost savings; provide ongoing input on spending and income / fund sourcing Financial projection, strategizing, and guidance on banking and investment profile Support project analysis, validation of plans, and ad-hoc requests Manage the Centers financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems; ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting policies and regulatory requirements Develop and implement financial strategies and policies to ensure efficient financial operations; detect trouble spots and help with forecasting Provide training and support to staff on financial procedures and systems May assist with background checks and some HR duties

Knowledge/Skills Required: Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable information Ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with board members, business partners, and staff Critical, strategic thinker; valuable financial leader and role model, guiding an upleveled trajectory toward increased fiscal performance Ability to stay grounded with financial knowledge and decision making, while seeing the bigger picture vision and helping the team rise to that Prosperity mindset, positive and hopeful outlook, and love of the work Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills Strong demonstrated use of spreadsheets and Office software; comfort with financial reporting, bookkeeping, and tracking tools, most importantly, QuickBooks Detail-oriented, conscientious, and carries a high level of integrity Adept at developing strong working relationships with the team, leadership, Board, auditors, and contractors

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Associates degree or equivalent experience Strong experience in accounting and financial analysis in the not-for-profit sector
