Description

Under general supervision the Job Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with employers to develop job opportunities for clients. Assists both employer partners and clients with understanding the cultural barriers to employment along with immigration status related information. This role also involves assessing clients' employment needs, skills, and interests, and matching them with suitable job openings. The Job Developer will work closely with Job Counselors and their clients to prepare them for employment through interview coaching, and other employment preparation services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employer Outreach

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with employers in various industries.

  • Identifies and develops job opportunities that match the skills and interests of clients seeking employment support.

  • Builds partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and training providers.

  • Advocates for clients' employment needs and work to reduce barriers to employment.

  • Attends job fairs, networking events, and community meetings to promote job placement services.

  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of labor market trends and employment practices.

  • Prepares and distributes job orders to staff regarding the available job opportunities.

  • Collaborates with team members to develop and improve job placement opportunities.

  • Markets clients to employers.

Job Matching & Placement

  • Promotes early employment and retention.

  • Works with Job Counselors to match clients to suitable job opportunities.

  • Conducts assessments to determine clients' skills, interests, and employment goals.

  • Provides employment preparation support along with ongoing evaluation and support for both client and employer partners.

  • Arranges interviews between clients and potential employers.

  • Follows-up with employers and clients to monitor job placement success, challenges and address any barriers and or issues.

  • Maintains accurate records of job placements, and follow-ups.

  • Prepares regular reports on job development activities and outcomes.

Coordinates activities with supervisor and refugee/employment services staff as applicable.

  • Actively interacts with Employment Team to provide coordinated employment services to clients.

  • Actively interacts with Department Team to enable seamless service provision to clients.

  • Attends all required meetings

  • Is aware of and actively supports the Agency’s Mission, Vision, Core Values and Strategic Plan.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings

  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.

  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree in business or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Credentials: Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License.

Experience: Two years’ experience in job developing, marketing or similar types of service; or equivalent experience/education. Multi-lingual ability preferred.
