Your role

Reporting to the General Manager, North America,

The Finance Director has overall responsibility for all aspects of the financial function and resources for the US corporation, including accounting, cash management, tax and legal affairs, business planning and reporting. As a member of the company’s management team, the Finance Director acts as a strong business partner, with a deep understanding of business and operations issues, providing analysis and enlightening the financial impacts of operations, projects, and decisions along with accurate reporting and Dashboard to allow performance tracking and improvement. As a member of the global organization, the Finance Director guarantees compliance with group/global financial procedures and strategy along with the local financial requirements. The Finance Director is also in charge of the accounting aspects of the US holding company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recommendations that Enable Achievement of Business Goals

Contributes to the strategic and business planning process, including providing recommendations to senior management on short-term and long-term financing and operating strategy for the organization.

Analyzes company operations, identifying areas that drive overall profit and/or can be more cost-effective.

Directs the budget variance analysis process, including: collection of variants and remediation activities, monitoring of expectations; and reporting progress to senior management and governance.

Develops innovative and effective financing strategies to support expansions and other capital requirements.

Prepares and presents forecasts for future business growth, general economic, industry and financial conditions and reports on their impact on company policies and operations.

Initiates other activities, whether financial or not, which contribute to the financial health, growth, regulatory compliance and overall fulfillment of the corporate mandate.

As a member of the senior leadership team, provides relevant information and guidance to the plant management to assess and improve the plant’s operating and financial performance.

Analyzes cash flow, cost controls and expenses to guide business leaders. Analyzes financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.

Manages the business planning process (budget, forecasts, multi-year plan).

Assesses organizational performance against budget and makes actionable recommendations together with heads of operational departments and General Manager.

Financial Implications of New Business Identified

Interacts with managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports and recommendations.

Supports new business development efforts, including developing budgets and pricing models, contract reviews, negotiations, and presentations.

Funds Available to Meet the Operating Needs of the Business

Monitors cash management and ensure availability of funds in connection with group/global finance.

Handles banking relationship on a daily basis.

Provides reliable cash forecasts.

Oversees and optimizes working capital.

Provides information on stock coverage and proposes action plans to optimize stock levels in coordination with Supply Chain management.

Oversees accounts receivable management in tight connection with sales.

Oversees accounts payable management.

Oversees insurance programs and assesses their appropriateness.

Identifies and proposes to global finance new funding opportunities.

Timely Corporate Tax Filings

Ensures accurate and timely compliance with all tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements.

Works with tax advisors to identify and implement sound tax strategies for the US entities.

Improved Organizational Capabilities

Pipeline of Leadership Talent in Key Roles: Analyzes the skills and capabilities of the functional area; identifies future workforce requirements; and identifies a means to close any gaps. Ensures processes are in place for unleashing the full potential of others by providing needed resources, coaching, experiences and other support to place the right people in key roles and continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge.

Organizational Structure: Develops an organizational structure that supports the retention and development of staff to deliver a high level of services, as well as offers career development for high performers/ high potentials.

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

Trusted business partner to the leadership team, with the ability to communicate financial concepts effectively to non-financial managers to enable them to make good operating decisions.

Strong Leadership skills and experience to be able to federate the team

Experience in building systems for cost reporting and working with operations to develop quantitative cost improvement strategies from variance to standard and activity-based cost accounting methods is required.

Leadership experience in EBITDA margin improvement through improved organizational performance, revenue growth, and cost improvement in a fast-paced, autonomous leadership team.

A change agent who collaborates and participates hands-on with other leaders to improve operating outcomes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENT:

Traditional office environment, with frequent visits to other areas of the facility, including production areas, loading docks, and laboratories.

Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

Sitting 75% of the time; standing or walking 25%.

Occasional travel (domestic and/or international).

Your profile

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

CPA or MBA required.

Minimum 15 years’ experience in finance, 3 years’ experience as a Senior Manager of Finance (US). Hands-on experience in monthly closing, variance analysis, and industrial (plant) accounting.

Prior controlling experience required, manufacturing plant controlling strongly desired.

Prior international and inter-company experience preferred.

Experience managing banking, benefits and insurance relationships and working with third party fiduciaries.

Previous supervisory experience required.

Prior pharmaceutical or regulated-industry experience helpful.

Prior experience working with private equity preferred. Valuation creation experience in highly capital-intensive production environments preferred.

Compensation range

150,000.00 - 180,000.00 USD

*The referenced compensation range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
