Job Responsibilities:

• Create and manage compelling, high-quality, engaging content that informs, educates, or encourages engagement with products and services. Manage a calendar for digital platforms, including social media and websites. Adhere to the university’s visual and editorial guidelines to maintain the integrity of RIT’s branding; proofread copy and review work before submission; stay abreast of the latest marketing trends, experiment with the application of trends to engage and expand the audience; and ability to interpret critical metrics collected to share with the team to make data-driven decisions.

• Meet and collaborate with partners to gain awareness and develop solutions; participate through on-site visits to collect and capture information and assets required for project completion. Research and identify content opportunities to grow key audiences and build awareness of departments and programs.

• Work in collaboration with others using marketing principles to produce and implement digital marketing tactics. Articulate and present concepts and ideas through outlines or sketches, incorporate constructive feedback with intention, and manage projects; monitor project progress to adhere to deadlines, project goals and objectives.

• Supervise, hire, and manage a team of student employees who develop social media content and serve as brand ambassadors.

• Collect, monitor, and analyze data on websites, business listings, and social media; apply insights and make recommendations that align with the marketing strategies. Monitor user engagement and actively listen to conversations across channels; respond to customers as needed or escalate/delegate as appropriate. Manage and update a dashboard to track the performance of marketing activities.

• Provide communication support, such as writing copy, creating content, and gathering analytics. Coordinate the distribution of content through various communication channels.

• Engage in team development, meetings, project reviews, and ideation sessions by generating ideas and providing intentional feedback based on marketing principals.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, marketing, advertising, business management, communication or related field

  • 2-3 years’ experience in marketing, advertising and/or related field

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language, including spelling, grammar, and creative writing

  • Possess a deep understanding of a diverse community and a demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and cross-cultural topics.

  • Basic creative skills for social media content development, including design, photography, and videography.

  • Operate video and photo editing programs for social media

  • Project management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities

  • Team-oriented, flexible, and customer-service orientation

  • Ability to ideate and collaborate; work well with others

  • Ability to listen, interpret requests, gather feedback and deliver solutions the intended to reflect intended purpose

Job Summary:

The Finance & Administration marketing department seeks a digital marketing and communication specialist to execute digital marketing initiatives. The digital marketing and communication specialist will serve as the content manager for digital platforms, including social media, websites, direct email messaging, and internal portals. Vital components of this role are ensuring brand guidelines and executing marketing campaign tasks, tracking and reporting performance, writing copy, and conceptualizing ideas. Responsible for managing social media platforms within the division, this role will utilize management tools, coordinate content calendars, curate content, expand collaborations with university-wide initiatives, and track analytics to tell insightful stories.

The digital marketing and communication specialist will work in a highly collaborative environment and responsibilities include story discovery and development, copywriting, event management, market research, and data analysis to determine if marketing tactics are successful. This individual should be a champion storyteller, with the ability to share compelling narratives to communicate a message, experience, or an idea, motivating customers to engage with the brand. The individual will be encouraged to generate new ideas that will continue to elevate the customer experience. The role requires excellent writing skills, the ability to collect, compile and distill complex data, and a high level of comfort facilitating collaboration with employees and customers.

The digital marketing and communication specialist will work under the direct supervision of the assistant director of marketing and support the Finance and Administration division.
