Kelly Services Diamond Turning Machine Operator in Rochester, New York

Are you experienced in precision manufacturing and passionate about pushing the boundaries of optical technology? At Kelly® Professional & Industrial, we’re seeking a Diamond Turning Machine Operator to join our innovative manufacturing team in Rochester, NY. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where quality and innovation are paramount, this role is for you.

Pay: $20-27/hr. (Depending on experience).

Shift: B and C Shifts Available at the moment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate diamond turning machines to manufacture mold nubbins and prototype lenses, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances and complex specifications.

  • Clean and visually inspect diamond-turned lenses to maintain quality standards.

  • Utilize metrology equipment to inspect lenses and record inspection data, labor hours, and job information as required.

  • Perform routine maintenance on diamond turning machines to ensure optimal performance.

  • Conduct diamond tool inspection and handling, vacuum chuck mounting and machining, spindle balancing, and diamond tool setup with multiple tools.

  • Make machine adjustments and program parameter changes to maintain lens tolerance and machining of diffractive surfaces.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit, stand for extended periods, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Excellent vision abilities including close vision and color vision.

  • Problem-solving skills to tackle practical challenges and adapt to varying situations.

  • Comfortable working in a moderate to loud noise environment.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in the diamond turning field (preferred).

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
