SUMMARY:

Under supervision of Oral Surgeon or manager, functions as an Oral Surgery assistant. Can perform additional tasks as is allowed under NYS law for Licensed Dental Assistants

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Riedman Health Center

DEPARTMENT: Dental

SCHEDULE: Day

ATTRIBUTES:

• Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and computer experience preferred
  
• Minimum of one year of oral surgery experience
  
• Maintains Dental Assistant Certification (CDA) with NYS or the Dental Assistant National Board (DANB) - Required
  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interaction with staff, patients and visitors
  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patient Care. Discuss pre-op instructions with patient and preparing patient for oral surgery procedures reviewing med history. Provide patient with postop instructions and prepare moderate sedation flow sheet. Monitor patient vitals during sedation procedure. Assisting oral surgeon by maintaining patient airway. Post op removal of patient IV and prepare patient for discharge
  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $19.75 - $24.25

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
