University of Rochester Club Sport Coach I - Ballet Performance Group Coach in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

OVERVIEW

The Ballet Performance Group Coach serves as the Instructor to the members of the Ballet Performance Group student organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our performance classical instructors will have the following responsibilities:

  • Teach 2-3 weekly ballet classicals for 45 minutes on Sunday between the hours of 1-4. These classicals will be sorted by level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). In these classicals they should lead a short ballet warm-up and then work on the piece for that semester.

  • For each classical they must choreograph a classical ballet piece suited to the level, design lighting cues with the help of BPG’s Vice President and select costumes which make all dancers feel comfortable with the help of BPG’s Costume Manager

  • They must be willing to work with members of the classicals to adapt choreography as needed based on the abilities of those within the classical

  • They are also responsible for communicating with BPG’s executive board if any issues or questions arise

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Dance preferred

  • Minimum of ten years formal ballet training required

  • Extensive training or have danced professionally, either with a company or in another capacity preferred.

  • Reliable transportation to and from campus on a weekly basis required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $17.43 - $24.40 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
