GENERAL PURPOSE/SUMMARY :
Provide continuous and comprehensive services necessary for the promotion of optimal mental health, prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance to youth/adolescents, ages 11 – 20.
This includes consultation, evaluation and assessment, diagnosis, management of mental health and psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology and education. The Psychiatrist is part of a multidisciplinary team of Social Workers, Ambulatory Technicians and Nurse Practitioners within a School Based Health Center (SBHC) located in the Rochester City School District.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs psychiatric assessments and evaluations for individual patients enrolled in the SBHC’s as needed to assist in developing treatment plans, assessing psychopharmacologic needs and/or evaluating patient progress towards treatment goals
· Provides consultation as needed to LMSW’s, LCSW’s and Nurse Practitioners currently providing services at the School Based Health Center. Consultation may be provided by telephone and/or zoom during non-clinic on-site scheduled days
· Communicates clearly both in writing and verbally with students, health care team members, families and school staff.
· Able to function independently with most clinical decision making.
· Able to relate well to teens and well versed in adolescent health and assessment.
Adhere to standards via evidence-based guidelines
Maintain a customer-oriented approach to meeting patient needs in an expedient manner, involving the family in the plan of care as appropriate.
Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy
Follow all SBHC and Ambulatory care policies and procedures in caring for patients
· Responsible for medical record documentation of treatment and billing services in the electronic medical record while maintaining compliance with Division and hospital policies.
· Serve as an information resource to the SBHC multidisciplinary team and the patients of the clinic.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must have a medical degree (MD)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates will have Medical degree. Licensed to practice in New York State required. At least two years of clinical experience with youth and adolescents.
REPORTS directly to Director of School Based Health Center(s)
