University of Rochester CARE Network Manager, Grad Students in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The CARE Network Manager serves as a primary contact for University community members in Graduate schools, departments, and offices who have concerns about a student’s behavior or well-being, both in and outside of the classroom. The CARE Network Manager exercises independent judgment while coordinating with the Director of the CARE Network, Graduate offices, other staff and faculty members, and parents or community members when appropriate, to develop supportive plans for students in need of resources. The incumbent will routinely provide updates to senior leaders on the status of students with high levels of risk and need. This position provides non-clinical case management to students with higher levels of need and includes close communication with University Counseling Center, University Health Services, Conduct, and Public Safety as needed. This position also serves as a liaison between the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) and other campus departments to support student well-being, collect information about student referrals, and implement programs for various constituents in the university community. A key responsibility will be participating in crisis management protocols. These can occur during some nights and weekends. As a CARE Network member, this position regularly manages highly sensitive information within the University community. The Manager assists the Director with oversight and administration of the CARE Network and serves as a team member in the Center for Student Conflict Management (CSCM).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

CARE Student Case Management:

  • Maintain a caseload of Graduate CARE referrals for students needing more support.

  • Conduct initial review of CARE referrals.

  • Schedule and meet with student, assess student safety and needs, provide information and referrals about support resources, and follow-up as needed.

  • Communicate with referrers and provide updates.

  • Manage medium and high-level cases of concern through facilitating case conferences, mandating assessments, and generating supportive planning agreements.

Collaboration with Campus Partners:

  • Co-facilitate CARE Team and Student Support Network meetings under the leadership of the Director.

  • Schedule and facilitate Graduate CARE meetings with involved graduate offices.

  • Build relationships with and collaborate with Graduate Support Offices to streamline marketing and delivery of services across the University

  • Understand unique features of each School’s grad studies office and offerings; Coordinate with campus and community resources.

  • Create and facilitate trainings, workshops, and presentations pertaining to student support and well-being.

  • Research, develop, and implement outreach initiatives that contribute to better understanding and usage of CARE services.

  • Working closely with the Director, provide leadership to the campus regarding issues of student support.

  • Manage CARE Network in the absence of the Director

CARE Network Administrative Tasks:

  • Working with other CARE staff, maintain online case management system and track CARE Network referrals, documenting pertinent information while maintaining privacy and respect to sensitive information.

  • Maintain spreadsheet identifying current CARE referrals and appropriate follow up.

  • Create and order promotional materials related to CARE.

  • Assist with maintaining the CARE Resource Center online database and the CARE website.

  • Assist the Director with gathering, interpreting, and reporting statistical data related to CARE Network referrals.

Regularly participate in:

  • ODOS and CSCM staff meetings; Tuesday morning CARE Team meetings; monthly Student Support Network Meetings

  • ODOS and University wide committees related to job responsibilities.

  • Regional, state and national professional organizations pertinent to the field

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree required.

  • Master's degree in social work, higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or related field preferred.

  • Two or more years of experience in college or counseling setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Experience supporting students with mental health presentations, various disability statuses, and/or diverse identities of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality preferred.

  • Knowledge of higher education systems; effective communicator both written and verbal, of sensitive and confidential information; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail; ability to work independently while exercising good judgment; proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships in a complex environment required.

  • Knowledge of restorative justice and trauma informed practices preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 55,955 - $ 78,336 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
