Avangrid Service Company Associate Engineer in Rochester, New York

TITLE: Associate Electrical Engineer

LOCATION: NY - Rochester - 3 City Ctr

SALARY RANGE: $62964 - $78705

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • CAD Drafting, and other Engineering tools.
  • Industry Codes, Standards, and Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge on Electric substations or transmission systems planning, operations, and/or protection and controls.
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD and other Engineering tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs basic engineering analyses of the electric substation and transmission system and recommends actions to develop design options or recommendations for major substations and transmission construction projects.
  • Asist in developing engineer conceptual design for substations and transmission line projects on Utilities.
  • Engage in the detailed design, performing engineering reviews, calculations and/or recommending drawings or system improvements, according standards or international codes.
  • Participate in the creation of electric system and component reliability studies and outage contingency plans.
  • Help to creates BID Forms for engineering services and/or PayCU's for Construction services, to follow the company's procurement policies.
  • Ensure that all electrical documents are issued on time. Develops and validates information needed for engineering analyses and applies engineering judgment to solve complex technical problems.
  • Support the analysis and assessment of complex transmission systems at numerous voltage levels.
  • Help to document and communicate results and recommendations as appropriate including data manipulation, report writing, and summary presentations.
  • Monitor the quality aspects of engineering, including compliance with design standards and accuracy of documentation, field analysis and reporting, and test data.
  • Collaborate the analysis and review of projects, studies, and best practices with Engineering peers.
  • Participate in substation site inspections and project meetings as needs arise.
  • Assists during storm restoration effort.
  • Work under the direction of senior engineers to manage contractors and consultants. Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines, project management, and client teams.
  • Aid to implements new technology to enhance power system performance when required.
