Provide project management direction from inception to completion of projects; to be the primary contact in concert with the Project Management Principal Engineer and Project Management Administrative Engineer for other public agencies, special interest groups and the general public regarding project activities; to establish effective long-term relationships with local units of government; and to provide overall direction and leadership to technical project teams in the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in the management of project activities for minor, moderate and major scale projects to meet the project requirements; to ensure consistency with MnDOT strategy, commitments and goals; and to ensure proper program execution and compliance with MnDOT, state and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Engineer Senior Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.(If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)

Engineer 2 Graduate Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited college/university or equivalent as rated by EAC/NCEES;

  • A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

  • Two (2) years post-graduation civil engineering work.

OR

  • A Master’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an EAC-ABET accredited college/university or equivalent as rated by EAC/NCEES

  • A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

  • One (1) year of post-graduate civil engineering work.

OR

  • Received a passing score on the Minnesota Principals & Practices of Civil Engineering (PE) Exam.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CADD, Windows based operating systems, spreadsheet, and word-processing software applications.

  • Knowledge of MnDOT policies, procedures, HPDP, ADA requirements, Geometric Design Standards, MnDOT Specifications, Sample Plans, and State and Federal statute and regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of critical path scheduling theory, applications, and tools (e.g., Artemis Project View (APV) or Prima Vera (P6).

  • Class D Driver's License if driving a state vehicle.
