Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Paid Time Off Vision Insurance Basic Life Insurance Tuition Reimbursement Employer Paid Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability Adoption Assistance Plan Minimum Qualifications: Medical Technologist (ASCP) certification or equivalent education Five years' experience in a high complexity testing clinical laboratory Experience in administrative and management activities including accreditation preferred BLS certification within 90 days of hire Core Competencies: Oversees routine and specialized laboratory testing according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of Laboratory Science practice. Assures appropriate staffing and competency levels for effective and efficient laboratory functioning. Monitors quality assurance/performance improvement activities in the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical components of laboratory testing. Maintains knowledge base of contemporary laboratory science. Assures compliance with safety and government regulations and standards. Exercises appropriate critical thinking skills and knowledge in clinical decision-making. Maintains the ethics of the profession. Job Responsibilities: Supervises the work of laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures including planning laboratory work, evaluating work performed, and handling procedural and technical laboratory problems. Assists in development and implementation of quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper functioning of laboratory equipment, and compliance with federal regulations; prepares and maintains applicable records. Assists with preparation of technical reports reflecting volume of work, procedures utilized, and test results; coordinates the preparation of reports and analyses describing progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Assists in the development of new medical laboratory procedures and techniques; plans, develops, and presents educational opportunities. Designs appropriate work schedules for subordinate employees and plans daily work assignments in order to maintain an adequate personnel complement for laboratory efficiency. Supervises various personnel functions including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules. Monitors quality control, quality assurance, and safety and infection control practices to assure compliance with internal or external regulations. Develops process to maintain sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties; cleans and maintains standard laboratory equipment within budgetary guidelines. Provides advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, interpretation/consultation, verification of specimen quality, and test results. Provides technical consultation to clinicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel. Performs other duties as requested.
