FAC is currently searching for aMechanical Engineerto provide mechanical engineering support for ongoing projects and support the development of new products and applications for the Auto Component and General Industry Paint (ACP) group. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • As the leading supplier of paint robots and robotic paint application equipment in North America your responsibilities include a combination of mechanical design, developing drawings, and system part ordering to support various projects as assigned.

  • You will work with other members of the Auto Component and Industrial Paint (ACP) group on projects involving the implementation of paint robot solutions at end-user facilities.

  • Evaluate and understand customer and market requirements.

  • Create and maintain drawings for system layout which conform to customer and safety requirements.

  • Create and maintain drawings for system and ACP standard assemblies.

  • Travel to customer sites (as necessary) to gather site specific engineering information to assist with the system design.

  • Coordinate with engineers from other FAC groups to support new ACP developments.

  • Interface with external engineering design resources, integrators, and suppliers.

  • Lead project design reviews.

  • Coordinate and perform required testing of new design concepts.

    Ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills and education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum three (3) years robotic paint application experience.

  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD and Solidworks.

  • Must have experience in system engineering, design, and integration of automation systems.

  • Problem solving, identify causes and offer potential solutions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on satisfying the customer.

  • Communication with project managers, other engineering disciplines, customers, and other support team members is essential.

  • Should have working knowledge of National Electric Codes, NPFA 33, and related guidelines and industry practices.

  • Occasional overnight travel to customer sites including international travel. Extended time onsite may be required during critical product phases.
