International Technical High Voltage Battery Component Specialist in Rochester Hills, Michigan
Position Overview
International Corporation, a leading North American truck manufacturer with great products, a strong market position and best-in-class distribution network, has an exciting new opportunity for a Technical High Voltage Battery Component Specialist to join our join our Energy Storage Value Creation team. This is currently a hybrid position working 3 days in office and 2 days work from home a week at Rochester Hills, MI; Elmendorf, near San Antonio, TX; or Lisle, IL. (International reserves the right to update the current hybrid working status at any time). The Technical HV Battery Component Specialist will work with procurement and engineering teams on the technical portion of component sourcing for the RESS. The work will include collaboration with our suppliers on externally sourced battery solutions in addition to co-development work with our TRATON partners.
Responsibilities
Leading engineering activities for localized part supplier sourcing and support
Work with procurement team to draft the technical portion of RFIs/RFQs (Request for Information/Request for Quote); assessing RFI/RFQ documentation
Provide technical input to the supplier decision matrix; assess supplier technical capability and ability to provide high-quality, reliable components on-time
Assist procurement team in understanding component function. Provide prioritized KPIs and work with program team to estimate production needs.
Work with procurement team to create and track sourcing time plan and sourcing strategy
Work in a team to facilitate localization of Traton batteries in the US: NAR production Start-up & on-going support.
Supporting global supplier relationships: plant visits, engineering meetings - common Traton group parts - all locations
Leading engineering activities with local suppliers on common TRATON group parts: starting and maintaining relationships, organizing plant visits & engineering meetings
Collaborate with SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) to resolve quality issues
Organize and coordinate engineering activities with localized component suppliers, including design reviews, DFMEAs, and PFMEAs
Supporting B & C-sample (prototype) pack builds and ordering to support component validation testing, as well as validation testing on vehicle
Working with vehicle, system, subsystem, and component validation engineering teams to determine and track part quantity needs; communicate needs to supplier(s) and track deliverables
Work with internal customers to capture special prototype requirements
Work with validation teams to develop, execute, and assess DVP&Rs for localized components/systems
Support prototype flow team regarding component availability
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development
OR
Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
4+ year Electrical/Mechanical or relevant Engineering degree from an accredited college or university
Must be able to collaborate and work well in teams, including across brands and time-zones
Proven record of successfully working with suppliers to deliver parts to an OEM
Hands-on experience working on HV lithium-ion batteries strongly preferred
Familiarity with the design of HV batteries strongly preferred
Hands on experience with power-electronics and electrified propulsion systems preferred
Experience with physical testing of electrical components preferred
DFSS green or black-belt certification preferred
Ability and flexibility to travel up to 2 weeks at a time, multiple times per year, domestically and internationally
