FANUC America Corporation (FAC) provides the most complete range of industry-leading robotics, CNC and motion control systems, and ROBODRILL machining centers. Our innovative technologies and proven expertise help manufacturers in the Americas to be more efficient, reliable and profitable. We are currently searching for a dynamic, Engineer (Process) to be responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed project technical plan and engineering task list regarding the form, fit, and function of the system, overseeing the mechanical, pneumatic, and process requirements, and scheduling/leading design review meetings to ensure open issues are tracked, and documentation is accurate.

The ideal candidate is a customer-focused, problem-solver who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams and has experience with ROBODRILL, as well as the ability to troubleshoot pneumatic system designs in the field.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Review customer specifications for planning and meeting requirements.

  • Communicate with Project Manager regularly to ensure accuracy of the project schedule.

  • Lead the development of the following:

  • Vacuum Tooling along with the entire vacuum infrastructure.

  • Conveyors capable of transferring warehouse items such as envelops, polybags, parcels, boxes.

  • Pneumatic system designs, including schematic design and BOM development.

  • Equipment arrangement, Robot Reach, Payload Analysis, Cycle-time, tolerance studies, Mechanical & Pneumatic component sizing, system Sequence-of-Operations.

  • Spare parts lists, maintenance and operational manuals, and 3D simulations for validating engineering requirements (develop and maintain 3D simulations).

  • Generate written specifications detailing system functionality.

  • Generate the Robot Safety Risk Assessment and review with project team.

  • Plan, request, follow-up, and approve all mechanical engineering issues.

  • Attend internal & customer project kick-off meetings and provide technical expertise.

  • Review detailed project budget and provide forecast updates.

  • Identify all work cell equipment that requires mechanical design and build and:

  • Coordinate internal design resources based on capacity.

  • Develop specifications to line-up external design/build sources, review quotes and place orders.

  • Monitor progress and continuously review internal and external designs.

  • Generate runoff criteria & coordinate the buyoff of equipment built by external suppliers prior to shipment to FANUC America.

  • Support field installation, debug, & customer plant buyoff activities.

  • Coordinate delivery & return of all documentation for customer approval.

  • Ensure required documentation is available to the manufacturing department for integration build; review and approve redline changes on manufacturing floor.

  • Ensure as-built documentation package is delivered to the customer.

  • Generate run-off documentation per project and customer requirements.

  • Provide proposal support and review per assigned application areas.

  • Generate Work Change Request documents as necessary.

    Ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills and education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum three years of experience and expertise in (mechanical) system engineering, design, and integration of robotic automation systems preferred.

  • Experience with CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ROBOGUIDE Simulation.

  • Knowledge of 3D Simulation and discrete-event simulation methods.

  • 3+ years of experience and expertise in (mechanical) system engineering, design, and integration of robotic automation systems.

  • Exposure to ISO-9000, QS-9000, & TE Supplement quality systems.

  • Familiarity with Reliability & Maintainability techniques such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, MTTR, MTBF, Availability, OEE, etc.

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
