The Senior Controls Engineer (Hardware) will be pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing control system electrical hardware solutions for ASG customers. This position demands a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to contribute effectively to the strategic direction of ASG's control system solutions. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and problem-solver, skilled in navigating complex engineering challenges while actively supporting the broader objectives of the Automation Systems Group.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and play an integral role in the engineering execution team, focusing on the project's electrical controls hardware.

  • Supervise and mentor other Controls Engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment within the team.

  • Develop comprehensive controls specifications that clearly define the scope of the project requirements.

  • Previous Design, development, and debugging of PLC programs using Siemens or Rockwell applications is beneficial.

  • Actively support quoting efforts by estimating controls hardware and software costs, contributing to accurate and competitive proposals.

  • Thoroughly review customer technical specifications to ensure the proposed solution complies with all requirements and expectations.

  • Participate in and assist with the electrical design process, bringing expertise in controls engineering to enhance overall design quality.

  • Support the integration, debugging, and run-off of large automation systems at the FANUC Amercia Facility, verify hardware/software installations, and debug PLCs and related peripherals.

  • Provide hands-on support during field installation, startup, and debugging of systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.

  • Provide customer training sessions and develop comprehensive operator manuals, enhancing customer understanding and ability to operate and maintain the automation system effectively.

  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, demonstrating commitment to team success and project timelines.

  • Collaborate with sales, product management, manufacturing, and other ASG teams to align controls engineering strategies with broader company objectives.

  • Contribute to the allocation and mentoring of ASG Controls Engineering resources for successful project execution.

  • Stay updated on new technologies or methodologies that could enhance department efficiency and effectiveness and suggest implementations where appropriate.

    Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering, or equivalent degree or relevant experience.

  • Minimum seven years of experience in controls engineering with an in-depth understanding of OEM robotic automation systems, controls, hardware, PLCs, and related technical areas preferred

  • Minimum three years in a leadership role with proven experience leading and guiding the work of others, while developing and implementing overall engineering strategies of large robotic systems.

  • Prior experience successfully managing the development and execution of control system engineering, design, and integration of large automation, material handling, robotics, assembly, and manufacturing projects.

  • Understand and correctly apply corporate policies.

  • Work closely with 3rd party vendors that provide controls hardware and design.

  • Provide technical expertise and assurance to customers as needed

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
