We are currently searching for a dynamic Engineer to provide our Product Plus Group with specific experience in robot controls and dressout to help drive customer satisfaction along with overall project profitability. In this role, you will customize body shop solutions based on quoted project deliverables and change orders, support design through application and implementation guidance, and lead the overall engineering and development of designs based on our customer objectives. Develop dressout specifications to meet application needs and work with dressout suppliers
Develop a plan and drawings for:
Robot with dressout installed
Air/Water preparation equipment
J3 equipment/pneumatics
Robot controller interface package
Order robot configurations, dressouts and interface solutions on time and per customer specifications
Hold engineering design reviews and maintain a high level of Engineering Accuracy following ISO procedures
Develop and test prototypes for various product offerings
Release approved engineering packages in ERP for each project
Support Continuous Improvement of PPG Engineering Standards and refinement of ISO processes
Manage project costs through efficient engineering and focus on lower cost solutions
Support manufacturing / integration efforts on FAC floor including testing plans for run-off validation
Support field installation and customer site visits as required
Support sales and quoting efforts as required
Create and deliver technical presentations for internal and customer training
Support failure analysis and troubleshooting efforts and present root cause and corrective action to customers
Support integrators and line builders trying to integrate and install new robotic applications Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education) in related engineering discipline preferred, or
equivalent relevant experience
2+ years of industrial automation design experience
Ability to create and read electrical interface, robot mechanical dressout and pneumatic prints
Experience with systems engineering, design & assembly Preferred Qualifications
Experience with robotics in body shop applications including robot interfacing and peripheral equipment integration/operation
PLC programming experience
