LifePoint Health Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Radiology in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania
Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Radiology.They apply ionizing or radioactive materials to demonstrate portions of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. They prepare patients for examinations by explaining the procedure, removing clothing/jewelry that interferes with x-rays and appropriately positioning the patient for the proper examination. They practice radiation protection with the use of lead aprons, gloves and/or shields. They use radiographic equipment to produce x-ray films for interpretation by the Radiologist.

*Essential Functions: * *Patient Assessment/Education: * 1. Identifies patient by name and birthdate. Reviews order for clinical and demographic consistency and verifies accuracy.
Interviews patient for clinical history, reviews previous procedures and documents relevant history for the Radiologist.
Explains procedure to patient. Explains and obtains consent for contrast if needed.
*Examination Performance: * 1. Prepares patient for procedure ensures prep performed if needed and checks for any artifact-producing objects.
Orders/performs correct examination.
Positions patient correctly for examination to be performed.
Performs procedures in accordance with established protocols and in a timely manner.
Maintains 15 mammography CEU’s in past 36 months.
Performs a minimum of 200 mammograms in a 24 month period.
Correctly operates radiology/mammography equipment.
Enter all radiopharmaceuticals, patient information and doses in the computer.
Correctly operates nuclear equipment.
Inject radiopharmaceuticals using sterile technique.
*Safety: * 1. Preparation/administration of oral and IV contrast.
Performs venipuncture utilizing sterile technique (for those with the competency).
Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
Follows ALARA principles: wears film badge, uses patient shielding, repeat rate, etc.
Proper technique in handling, preparing and dosing of radiopharmaceuticals
Proper procedure in the receipt and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals.
Assay of radiopharmaceuticals received and administered.
Performs QC testing (daily flood, weekly wipes, weekly bar phantoms, weekly center of rotation).

Uses own login/password for all programs and CR’s and logs off when done.
Sensitive to customers special problems or concerns and able to resolve them.

Job Requirements: * *Certifications: ARRT Registration (RT)(M) N or NMTCB is required.
