LifePoint Health Central Sterile Supply Technician in Roaring Spring, Pennsylvania

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Central Sterile Supply Technician for our Operating Room. The qualified individual is responsible for preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment.

Essential Functions:

Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.

Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas within the facility or health care organization as needed.

Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.

Follow safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.

Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.

Monitor, interpret and document results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing area.

Prepare and distribute surgical instrument sets according to physician’s preference cards and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.

Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting sterile processing services.

Carry out appropriate sterilization methods, utilizing care and guidelines for use of steam, ethylene oxide and low temp sterilizers.

Follow appropriate infection control techniques throughout various work stations within the department and throughout the hospital.

Collect data and keep sterilization records on file.

Assist with improving the quality of sterile processing services and identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.

Job Requirements: * *Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Certifications:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred or willing to obtain within 18 months of hire date.

Certified in Endoscope Reprocessor or willing to obtain within 18 months.

Basic Life Support (BLS).

Minimum Work Experience:

One year of sterile processing experience preferred.

Required Skills:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
