Principal Multi-Cloud Network Engineer

Elevance Health is seeking a highly skilled Principal Multi-Cloud Network Engineer with expertise in Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) and Impact Level 4 (IL4) compliance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud networking technologies across multiple cloud platforms and extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures for government agencies.

Location: Washington, DC, Wilmington, DE, Hanover, MD, Iselin, NJ, Norfolk, VA, Richmond, VA, Roanoke, VA. Alternate locations will be considered. This position will work in a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

How you will make an impact:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders including government agencies, security teams, and cloud service providers, to define requirements, address security concerns, and implement best practices.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, including network engineers, security engineers, and cloud architects, to ensure successful delivery of projects.

  • Collaborate on the development and delivery of network architecture.

  • Design, implement, and optimize network architectures across multiple cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to meet FedRAMP and IL4 compliance requirements.

  • Lead and define the overall application system technology and architecture, development.

  • Assesses the compatibility and integration of solutions and products; ensures network designs and implementations adhere to FedRAMP and IL4 security controls and standards, including encryption, access controls, auditing, and monitoring.

  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with network infrastructure, ensuring compliance with FedRAMP and IL4 regulations and guidelines.

  • Create comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and compliance reports, to support auditing and regulatory reporting.

  • Work with technical teams to lead IT Business Transformation architecture strategy and vision.

  • Provide continuous improvement and direction on projects and stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to FedRAMP, IL4, and cloud networking.

  • Collaborate and partner with cross functional teams to enhance network security and compliance posture.

  • Identify opportunities to improve network performance, scalability, and reliability in multi-cloud environments while maintaining security and compliance standards.

  • Is responsible for and champions architectural standards, guidelines, principles, frameworks, and reference models.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study and a minimum of 11 years experience ; multi-dimensional platform experience, expert level experience with business and technical applications; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position as it will support the Department of Defense Military OneSource program.

  • Ability to speak fluent English.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, & Experiences:

  • Experience mentoring others, driving teams to achieve results, leading multiple or large complex technical projects, and providing troubleshooting support strongly preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, VPN, SDN).

  • Experience designing and implementing secure network architectures for government agencies, preferably in FedRAMP and IL4 environments.

  • Strong understanding of cloud networking services and technologies (e.g., VPC, VPN Gateway, Direct Connect, Virtual Network Peering).

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, AWS Certified Advanced Networking or equivalent.

  • Experience with network security technologies and practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and encryption.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex network issues.

  • Strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • The position may require occasional travel and participation in on-call rotation for network-related incidents or emergencies.

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain or already possess security clearance as required for working with government agencies.
