John Calhoun Electric, LLC JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN REPORTS TO: Company owner Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the residential and commercial electrical industries. We are looking for candidates with experience in high voltage and residential electrical work - both larger scale apartment/condo/commercial renovations, and smaller scale home and commercial service work. MUST POSSESS JOURNEYMAN LICENSE AND THE FOLLOWING SKILLS: 1. Ability to perform electrical tasks with minimal supervision and lead a crew as a supervisor 2. Read blueprints 3. Terminate cable 4. Install and troubleshoot control wiring from drawings and/or prints 5. Install feeders 6. Knowledgeable on wire and conduit sizing 7. Experienced with switchgear and device installation and termination, including layout and preparation for installation. 8. Underground layout and rough-in 9. Troubleshooting motors and controls 10. Fully comprehends Electrical theory and NFPA 70 National Electric Code 11. Bending conduit by hand with hand benders 12. Use of power and hand tools/equipment: saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, jack hammers, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools and knockout punches 13. Comprehension and execution of safe work practices 14. Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment 15. Operation of company trucks with manual and automatic transmissions 16. Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electrical or gas powered) 17. Driver's license and reliable transportation WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Job requires working in all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow) 2. Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns). 3. Job requires employees to have personal tools with them at all times 4. Must be comfortable with heights and working with/from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all sizes of extension ladders, carrying and relocating up to 12' step ladders) 5. Employee's personal weight and tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs, Class 1A-300 lbs) 6. Perform work at various heights (up to 90') from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other areas 7. Work in restricted areas (switchgear room manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics) 8. Wear personal protective equipment when required (hard hat, safety glasses, respirator) 9. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers 10. Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required 11. Possible overnight stays are rare, but may be discussed 11. Must be able to: lift 51 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach over head; occasionally completing overhead work for full day assignments Job Type: Full-time Salary: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour DOE Benefits: Paid time off Professional development assistance Tuition reimbursement Schedule: 10 hour shift 8 hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Overtime Supplemental pay types: Bonus pay
