What You'll Do:

Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Manager, and with indirect oversight from the Corp Logistics Group, this individual will play a pivotal role in planning and executing the production, staging, loading, and shipping of products.

The goal is to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of high-quality bedding products while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.

The primary responsibility of this professional lies in ensuring the productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of plant fleet operations. This includes overseeing daily Omnitracs management and managing fleet driver administration tasks such as JJ Keller compliance, driver payroll, and other related duties in accordance with DOT regulations.

Proficiency in utilizing fleet management software and programs is essential, including TMS, Omnitracs, Geotab, EPod, and any other platforms directed by the Corp Logistics Team.

How You'll Do It:

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a safety-focused culture by enforcing safety policies and training to ensure compliance with company safety standards and DOT regulations, minimizing work-related injuries.

  • Collaborate with the Corp Logistics and Plant Transportation Manager to promptly report and investigate fleet driver accidents and injuries.

  • Coordinate with the Corp Logistics and Plant Transportation Manager to achieve delivery, cost, and service quality objectives.

  • Oversee daily fleet dispatch operations.

  • Manage and coordinate daily fleet deliveries and the retrieval of returned merchandise.

  • Address driver and customer concerns and facilitate communication regarding delivery delays.

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend procedures to enhance operations.

  • Nurture positive working relationships and proactively address driver issues.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and participate in relevant training programs to stay updated on delivery, DOT, health, safety, and related matters.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the cost-effectiveness of the delivery function, including the control of labor utilization, preventing excess hours, downtime, and overtime, and efficient usage of transportation-related equipment.

  • Ensure compliance with all DOT regulations, including the review of daily driver's log sheets, critical events, performance monitoring, accident reporting and investigation, drug testing requirements, and transportation equipment maintenance.

  • Ensure proper use of Omnitracs ELD system for managing driver logs to ensure DOT compliance.

  • Ensure proper use and operation of fleet EPOD devices for capturing detailed delivery info.

  • Prepare daily management reports and weekly mileage reports for state fuel tax reporting.

  • Prepare other standard and ad hoc reports as needed.

  • Monitor Drivers' mileage and wage system for correct payments.

What You'll Bring:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 10+ years of experience in transportation-related field

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in fleet management, including direct driver supervision

  • Proficient knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations

  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and local health and safety regulations

  • Experience utilizing data-driven measurements and metrics for functional areas

  • Some proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in transportation or supply chain related field.

  • Lean training / certification.

Your Work Environment:

  • Work involves exposure to usual hazards found in a manufacturing environment.

  • Work also involves occasional lifting of product, up to 100lbs.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
