Description of Job

Frisco Creek rehabilitates injured and orphaned mammals and birds of prey including black bear, bobcat, Canada lynx, eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons. The purpose of the rehabilitation is to return these animals to the wild. This position will assist with general property work such as weed spraying and fence construction as well as maintenance of pens, cages, and buildings on the facility. In addition, this position will spend a lesser or equal amount of time assisting with the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife, including medical care, feeding, cage and pen cleaning, exercise, transport, and release. Training will be provided for all duties.

This work is physically demanding at times and attention to detail is necessary. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work is required due to animal care.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must have a valid Driver’s License, and reliable transportation to and from the work location near Del Norte, CO.Housing is not provided.

  • Must be able and willing to work independently or with others, often with little direct supervision.

  • Applicants must be willing to work long hours under strenuous conditions and be prepared to work in all types of weather at an elevation of 9,500 feet.

  • Must be able to repeatedly lift 50 pounds in a single workday and perform activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

  • Applicants with experience caring for animals and/or performing construction and maintenance activities are preferred. Successful applicants must be willing to perform both types of work.

  • Applicants must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and/or evenings as needed.

  • Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
